Progressive published its September results as a report says more cars are being written off after accidents.
A report finds total loss frequency in auto insurance is climbing and more drivers are paying for repairs themselves. That points to claims costs and customer behaviour that auto insurers have to price for. Insurers as a group are in strong shape, so this is a detail to watch inside the group and not a sign of broad weakness. Chubb reports on 2026-10-20.

American Express released its September card delinquency and write-off figures for US consumer and small business cards.
Delinquencies and write-offs show how well card borrowers are paying their bills, which drives the credit losses card lenders carry. Because the figures come ahead of American Express earnings on 2026-10-23 and Capital One earnings on 2026-10-20, they give an early view of card credit quality. The payments and cards group is mixed, with half of its stocks strong.

BlackRock reported third-quarter earnings of $10.57 a share, or $15.93 on an adjusted basis.
BlackRock is the largest listed asset manager, so its quarter is the first read on fee income for the group. Most asset managers remain weak, so the strength is confined to a few names. Blackstone reports on 2026-10-22 and separately disclosed that director Joseph Baratta will retire from its board at the end of the year.
